Q: 为什么每年父亲节的日期都不一样?父亲节到底是哪一天?

A: 原来父亲节是六月的第三个星期天。今年的父亲节是6月19日。

Originally, I thought it was the second Sunday of June: 我原来还以为父亲节是六月的第二个星期日

It turns out it’s the third: 后来发现是六月的第三个星期天

On the second Sunday of this June this year, I was like, “I should give my dad a call.”: 今年六月的第二周日,我就想着要给我爸打电话

Wait a minute. I’m really not sure about this: 且慢,我日子会不会记错了?

父亲节的时候不要忘了给爸爸打个电话祝一声节日快乐喔。如果你不小心忘记了,不要忘了第二天补个电话哦,就像英语里说的那样“Better late than never!”,迟做总比不做好!

If it slipped your mind, you can say “Happy belated father’s day!”: 如果你忘了,那你可以说“Happy belated Father’s Day!”

Happy belated birthday: 祝一声迟到的生日快乐 (如果你当天忘记祝某人生日快乐,第二天可以这么说)

He didn’t actually really want to hit me or spank me: 他不是真的想要揍我

He just needed a word, a sound or a facial expression and I could tell that he was disappointed: 我爸只需要一个词、一个声音、或者一个表情,就足以让我感觉到他的失望
